And with marketing, it's especially not a decision to take lightly: it's your profit, your future customers and your business on the line. Here are the five guidelines that I recommend when selecting the right online marketing company to work with.

Fixed pricing plans may work for online accounting software or Microsoft Office licences. It does not make sense for marketing services. Your business is individual and the marketing strategies you use to find, attract, convince and retain your customers should be just as individual. How can you stand out amongst your competitors if you all use the same strategies and tactics?

Your online marketing or SEO company should take the time to understand your business and create a tailored proposal that is right for you, for your budget and for the results that you need to get.
